The RS/6000 Enterprise Server 7026 Model H50 base offering includes a 332 MHz 604e PowerPC* processor with X5-Cache system, 128 MB of error-checking and correcting (ECC) synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) memory (expandable to 3 GB), an ECC level 2 cache comprised of 256 KB per processor in an 8-way set associative implementation, a 4.5 GB high-performance disk drive, a 20X maximum speed CD-ROM, and a 1.44 MB 3.5-inch diskette drive. The H50 is packaged in a 9 X 16 (9 I/O slots, up to 16 disk/media bays) 8-EIA rack drawer. Unlike previous RS/6000 rack-mounted systems, the Model H50 is black. It is recommended for use in the Model S00 Rack, also black. The H50 is shipped with the internal adapters and devices configured and installed. The software can also be preinstalled if desired.

The RS/6000 7026 Model H50 server includes a modular disk subsystem that allows fast, easy addition, and replacement of drives. It has a hot-swappable storage maximum capacity of 118.2 GB and a flexible I/O subsystem of 5 PCI (32-bit), 2 PCI (64-bit), and two shared PCI/ISA slots. The I/O channels supported are the industry-common, high- performance PCI bus in addition to the traditional ISA bus.

The 7026-H50 is the first IBM rack-drawer version of a new generation of 1-4 way symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) enterprise servers providing unprecedented commercial price/performance in its class. It is well suited for customers who want commercial solutions to address mission-critical, online transaction processing (OLTP) as well as collaborative computing comprised of Lotus Notes, Domino Server, Internet, intranet, extranet, and groupware application solutions. With its high-integer and floating-point performance, the Model H50 is also well suited for certain types of engineering and scientific applications such as engineering analysis and petroleum research, which have mixed-integer/floating-point computing or high I/O bandwidth requirements. Data mining and data warehouse applications will also perform well because of the integer computing performance of the H50.

The Model H50 can be used as a stand-alone, multiuser, application or database server and has the connectivity to participate in most currently installed UNIX** and PC networks. It can also be configured for use as a SCSI, Ultra-SCSI, or Serial Storage Architecture (SSA) RAID server by taking advantage of the "Under-the-Covers" storage expansion capability, and allows for system growth. The H50 provides enhanced reliability with its redundant cooling design and optional redundant power when ordered with a second internal power supply.
