The 3590-B11 is a rack-mounted tape drive with an Automatic Cartridge Facility (ACF). The 10 cartridge ACF allows the drive to be used as a mini-library with access up to 1.2TB of data.

The drive's 9 MB/sec data rate is three times faster than previous 3480, 3490, or 3490E tape drives allowing tape applications to read or write data more quickly. With built-in data compression, the 3590-B11 can more effectively utilize the full capability of the 40 MB per second Ultra SCSI interface.

Up to 20GB Per Tape

The 3590 cartridges have an uncompressed data capacity of 10 GB or 20 GB. The capacity of the 3590-B11 is further increased by the addition of the Automatic Cartridge Facility (ACF), which allows an operator to mount ten cartridges at a time via a magazine.
