The RS/6000 Model C10 and Model C20 compact servers feature PowerPC* processors and are binary compatible with the RS/6000 family of systems. These server configurations extend the use of PowerPC technology in the RS/6000 family with higher performance, expandability, and configuration flexibility.

The RS/6000 Model C10 compact server includes an 80MHz PowerPC 601* processor, 16MB of memory, a 1GB SCSI-2 disk, a 2.88MB diskette drive, and a CD-ROM drive. The RS/6000 Model C10 compact server has an integrated SCSI-2 controller and a "connectivity option," selectable at initial order, of either an Ethernet** LAN Adapter, Token-Ring LAN Adapter, or 8-port Async Adapter and cable. Standard ports/connectors are provided for external attachment of SCSI or SCSI-2 devices, serial and parallel devices, keyboard, tablet, and mouse. It has extensive growth capability with up to 256MB of memory, three internal disks with up to 6.6GB, two internal media devices (tape drives, CD-ROM drive, etc.), and three available 32-bit Micro Channel* card slots for optional features. The PowerPC 601 processor and its support electronics are packaged on a pluggable processor card which allows for rapid replacement. In addition, a pluggable 1MB L2 (Level 2) Cache memory option is available for applications requiring increased performance. The RS/6000 Model C10 compact server is designed to meet customer needs for a low-priced, compact platform for server and multiuser application environments while providing expansion capability for customers to add to the configuration to satisfy their unique requirements.
