The 3584 UltraScalable Tape Library is an LTO type library. This Library
is scalable to six frames, with twelve drives for each frame, providing
a capacity anywhere from 56.2 to 496TB, making it the perfect choice for
streaming applications like data backup.
By fully leveraging advanced Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology, the IBM
UltraScalable Tape Library provides an ideal solution for cost-effectively
handling a wide range of backup, archive, and disaster recovery data storage
needs. The breakthrough reliability, capacity and performance of LTO offers
an excellent alternative to DLT, 8mm, 4mm, or 1/4-inch tape drives for
streaming data applications such as backup.

Advanced features
The UltraScalable Tape Library has a variety of advanced technical features.
The multi-path architecture is designed to enable you to simultaneously
attach heterogeneous servers and applications to LTO and DLTtape(tm) logical
library partitions.
Remote management capabilities using a Web browser provides library control
and configuration. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) functionality
is also included. LTO I/O expansion capability is available with a 20-cartridge
option, which can be added to the standard10 cartridge feature. Hot swap
drives and redundant power offer enhanced availability. The standard dual
media picker has a barcode scanner for optical cartridge recognition.
To help provide data integrity, the library performs a fast auto-inventory
any time it is opened. A touch-screen LCD panel enables convenient local
review of library status and provides control over local.
