The IBM 7207 Model 122 quarter inch cartridge (QIC) tape drive provides an entry-level device which offers up to 4GB capacity per cartridge and a data transfer rate of up to 380 KB/second. With 2:1 compression,the tape drive reaches up to 8GB and a data transfer rate of up to 760KB/sec. The 7207 Model 122 is now supported on systems as well as RS/6000 systems. The 7207 Model 122 provides more than three times the capacity of the 7207 Model 012 and can reduce the number of tape cartridges you need.
