The IBM 7332 4-mm DDS-2 Tape Autoloader Model 005 multiple cartridge
tape autoloader operates in streaming mode and attaches to a host RS/6000*
system single-ended SCSI adapter via SCSI cable. This externally attached
tape autoloader provides additional tape storage capacity for save and
restore operations. Full interchange of data is supported with the IBM
7206 Model 001 and Model 005. The 7332 has interchangeable magazines to
reduce tape handling. Backups can be easily processed.
Feature code #2013 provides one 12 cartridge magazine and a smoked acrylic
stand to provide operating clearance for the 12 cartridge magazine. Only
one feature code #2013 (with stand) is needed for each 7332. Additional
12 cartridge magazines without stand is available using feature code #2014.
Additional 4 cartridge magazines are available using feature code #2015.
Internal diagnostics are activated when the 4 mm diagnostic cartridge
is inserted and loaded into the drive (system intervention is not required).
A status light indicates when to clean the tape path.
The 7332 Model 005 is a large-capacity 4mm DDS-4 Tape Cartridge Autoloader
using DDS technology that features:
- Magazine indexing of less than 9 seconds for a load/unload cycle (the
time to unload one cartridge and load another)
- Dual port SCSI connectors
- Can be used for alternate IPL
- Storage capacity (with data compression) up to 96 GB with the 12 cartridge
magazine and up to 32GB with the 4-cartridge magazine
- Data transfer rate of 400 to 800 KB per second (typical with data
compression)
- Capability to read and write DDS2 tape cartridges in either 2-GB or
4-GB format (7206 Model 001 or 005)
- Media recognition system (the tape drive uses only data grade media)
to ensure data reliability
