The 3174 Model 92R is a shelf-mounted remote controller that support the CCITT X.21 interface for SDLC or X.25 attachment. The Model 92R supports up to eight 3270 devices.

Terminal Attachment

The 3174 Establishment Controllers offer a wide variety of terminal attachments. They can be configured to connect terminals directly, via 3299 Terminal Multiplexers, via optional Terminal Multiplexer Adapters (#3103) and via optional Telephone Twisted Pair Terminal Multiplexer Adapters (#3105), or by a combination of these attachments.

Model 90R supports up to 40 downstream PUs on a 4/16M bps Token-Ring, as well as one 3270 device or eight 3270 devices via an 8 port IBM 3299 Multiplexer.

Models 91R and 92 support up to four terminals via the terminal adapter ports provided, up to eight can attach via an 8 port 3299 Terminal Multiplexer

Communications Facilities

3174 Models 11R, 12R, 21R, 61R, 62R, 90R, 91R, and 92R operate in data half-duplex point-to-point or multipoint modes on duplex or half-duplex nonswitched facilities, and in half-duplex point-to-point mode on switched facilities as listed below.
